SNIP SNAP SNUDE
SNIP SNAP SNUDE is an ongoing collaboration with my friend and colleague Jette Lowen Dall. We met in 2009 in International Ceramic Research Center Guldagergaard and decided to do a project together. Our styles, interests, work techniques and skills were completely different, and therefore it was even more interesting to try to mix them.
We wanted to play with our national backgrounds, and chose the shape and concept of a matryoshka doll as ‘something ultimately Russian’ and Hans Christian Andersen as ‘something ultimately Danish’. Over the years we have been visiting each other studios for short sessions and developed several sets based on different tales of H.C. Andersen together. One of them – ‘Boyfriends of Thumbelina’ – was exhibited at ‘Toy’ exhibition at Ann Linnemann Studio Gallery in Copenhagen. Also we have been exploring the matryoshkas separately and Jette made a series of hand painted matryoshkas with drawings in her own funky style, while I have been decorating them with cut-out patterns inspired by Russian wood carvings of the beginning of the 20th century.
Some day we will set up an exhibition with all our creations from this project!
In 2023 me and Jette spent two weeks at her studio in Denmark and made a new series for a group exhibition Rejsen.
