News: Helsinki Coffee Festival

I’m a big admirer of specialty coffee culture, where high-quality coffee is sourced sustainably, roasted to highlight its unique flavors, and brewed to reveal the bean’s fullest potential. I like that with such an approach even casual coffee drinker (like myself) can have a more enriching and enjoyable coffee experience. I deeply appreciate the love and care that small specialty coffee shops invest in creating cozy spaces, sourcing quality beans, selecting dedicated staff, fine-tuning their brewing methods, and educating customers — all with one goal in mind: to serve the perfect cup of coffee.

I believe that responsibly made handcrafted tableware enhances this experience, adding to the artisanal craftsmanship that spans the entire coffee supply chain — from the farmers who grow the beans, to the roasters who unlock their potential, and the baristas who prepare and serve the final cup.

This April, there are coffee festivals happening in Helsinki (19-21.04) and Tallinn (27-28.04). I’m looking forward to tasting great coffees and chatting with coffee professionals about their preferences for specialty coffee tableware.

About Clayful cups

Clayful wares are handmade from high-quality porcelain clay bodies and glazed with food-safe lead-free glazes.

When fired properly, porcelain is the strongest and most durable type of clay. To make it colorful, a variety of ceramic pigments are mixed into clay. Adding color in this way binds the particles in the strongest way possible, which means that colors will never fade. All products are fired to 1290C, as a result of such intense heat significant part of clay components transforms to glass, ensuring a high level of sintering and low (close to zero) level of porosity, and makes wares durable and impervious to bacteria. All cups are of course dishwasher safe and have proven to withstand heavy duty café use.

Clayful wares are produced with a commitment to sustainability: recycling clay and glazes for as long as possible, firing fully packed kilns, and operating on a made-to-order basis to minimize waste. Additionally, materials are sourced from EU-compliant suppliers, faulty pieces are repurposed and packaging is reused, all with ongoing efforts to further improve environmental practices.

Clayful is registered as a Food Contact Materials operator and complies with all applicable European safety regulations concerning manufacture of products that intend to come in contact with food.
